Catered to your individual dog and their needs, Cub Camp is designed to get your dog prepared to thrive here at Camp and be the best trail hound they can be!
Long lines / slip leads will be utilized for new dogs and dogs that need help making good choices, but the point of Camp is for them to be off leash as much as safely possible so they learn that it's not a novel situation. Training will start at Camp with my personal dogs (Pack Rangers) for distractions, with focus on engagement with handler, appropriate interactions with other dogs, and impulse control. Gradually we will integrate Cubs in with the whole Pack, continuing with heavy management and training. Treats, play and building a relationship built on trust, communication and individual drives and motivators will always be the emphasis.
We are fortunate to have 80 acres of private trails behind Camp that we utilize to get Cubs trained to the level needed to eventually succeed on the more extensive trails with the whole Pack!

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my dog be a Cub?
Cub Camp will last as long as we deem necessary, and greatly depends on the dog's breed type and the owner's commitment to training while outside of Camp. We expect the average will be 5-10 sessions.
Cub Camp will be limited to 1-2 dogs a day do I can focus on each individual.
Unfortunately, some dogs may need more extensive training or behavior modification that what we can offer here at Camp, and we will refer to a local full service trainer. Dogs with serious aggression (not reactivity) issues towards dogs or humans are not appropriate for Camp.

Day Camp

Campers will be taken from Camp to a secluded forest access trail for a 2-3 hour off leash pack outing (2-7 dogs incl. Pack Rangers). Dogs will practice recall with distractions, engagement with handler, calmness and polite play behavior around a variety of dog temperaments and how to be a respectful trail user. When we arrive back to Camp, Campers will be welcomed into our home to rest and relax. Dogs that will benefit from quiet time or that need to eat lunch will be set up in The Cabin for a climate controlled crate nap.
The later part of the day will be focused towards more individualized intentional care. Solo trail hikes, on leash walks in the neighborhood and local dog friendly stores, training and grooming sessions will take place during this time.
The day will wrap up with some free group play time in the yard to decompress from the day and be dogs.
Campers will be given an all over body check, brush out and towel dry before pick up.
